WELLINGTON, Fl.—May 16, 2019----The Polo Gear Challenge Cup, one of the oldest tournaments in club history, begins Friday at Grand Champions Polo Club.

Sebucan will make its spring debut when the two-day tournament begins Friday with games at 3 p.m and 5 p.m. Sebucan, headed by patron Pablo Pulido, is a quiet neighborhood in Caracas, Venezuela.

The first game on Friday at 3 p.m. features Palm Beach Equine playing Sebucan. At 5 p.m., Audi plays Dutta Corp. With no clear-cut favorite, the tournament title is up for grabs.

Winners advance into the final on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and runner-up teams play for the Just For The Thrill Of It at 10 a.m.

With 6:06 left in overtime, Pablo Pulido took a pass from Grant Ganzi and broke away to score the winning goal to lead Aspen Valley (Pablo Pulido, 2, Juancito Bollini, 4, Grant Ganzi, 3, Alejandro Novillo Astrada, 8) to a thrilling 9-8 victory over Palm Beach Equine (Brandon Phillips, 4, Juan Bollini, 5, Nic Roldan, 8, Scott Swerdlin, 0).

In last week's Sun Cup final, Dutta Corp defeated Aspen Valley, 10-9, in overtime.

Pulido, a Cornell alum, was named Most Valuable Player. Playing well above his goal rating, Pulido scored three goals and played well defensively.

Dutta Corp Makes History, Four-Peats Sun Cup; Jared Zenni Named MVP

WELLINGTON, Fl.—May 6, 2019----Dutta Corp made history Sunday at Grand Champions Polo Club.

The fifth-year organization became the first team in the club's 13-year history to win a tournament four years in a row. 

Defending champion Dutta Corp (Timmy Dutta, 2, Carlitos Gracida, 4, Kris Kampsen, 6, Jared Zenni, 6) defeated Aspen Valley (Pablo Pulido, 2, Juancito Bollini, 4, Grant Ganzi, 3, Alejandro Novillo Astrada, 8) with a thrilling 10-9 overtime victory to capture the Sun Cup. 

"Let's just call it the Dutta Cup," joked Marc Ganzi during the awards presentation. 

With less than four minutes left in sudden death, Kampsen's 30-yard penalty conversion clinched the victory.

"No team has ever done this, ever," Kampsen said. "It just speaks volumes about the organization the Duttas have put together. It also says how hard it is to win in this league and that's only one tournament in the history of this club that has been won by a team four times."

Standing in its way will be Aspen Valley (Grant Ganzi, 3, Juancito Bollini, 4, Pablo Pulido, 2, Alejandro Novillo Astrada, 8), 11-7 winners over Audi (Santos Bollini, 1, Sugar Erskine, 6, Pablo Spinacci, 6, Tommy Collingwood, 5) Saturday at Santa Rita Polo Farm. The game was re-scheduled from Friday because of heavy afternoon rain.

Dutta Corp (Timmy Dutta, 2, Carlitos Gracida, 4, Kris Kampsen, 6, Jared Zenni, 6) advanced into the final with a 12-9 victory over Palm Beach Equine (Brandon Phillips, 4, Juan Bollini, 5, Nic Roldan, 8, Scott Swerdlin, 0) Friday at Grand Champions.

On Sunday at Grand Champions, Audi and Palm Beach Equine will meet in the Just For The Fun Of It Cup at 10 a.m. on Field 3. The final is 11:30 a.m. on Field 2.
